Procedure for students out of uniform

It is a school requirement that all students are changed into their SSCL Sports uniform for PDHPE practical classes. The following procedure will be followed for students who forget their practical uniform.

1st and 2nd offence: Warning about following the Leichhardt Way and uniform policy reminder from Teacher. Student will be allowed to participate.

3rd offence: Warning about following the Leichhardt Way and lunch detention. At the teacher's discretion, students will either participate in the lesson or made to document the lesson from the side. Students will serve a lunch time detention.

4th offence: Detention and phone call / letter home: Teacher will remove student from the lesson to document the lesson from the side. Students will serve a lunchtime detention and parents will be notified by phone/mail regarding the students repeated inability to wear correct uniform.

Students who are repeatedly out of uniform may be placed on monitoring booklets to help them eliminate their repeated disobedience.

In the event that a student's family has struck financial hardship and the purchase of a proper uniform is an issue, parents are encouraged to call the school and talk to their child's PDHPE teacher about temporary exemption from out of uniform procedures. If a student's uniform is damaged or dirty, students may bring an appropriate change of clothes for PDHPE, accompanied by a note from their parents. No note = out of uniform.

Procedure for students not participating

All students are expected to participate in each lesson to the best of their ability. Students unable to participate due to illness or injury must supply a note from home explaining the reason for non-participation; the note must be dated, signed by a parent/guardian and indicate a time frame.

Any student unable to participate for one week or longer must supply a medical certificate.

Depending on the nature of the illness/injury, the teacher may still ask students to become involved in the lesson through helping with equipment, scoring and participating in alternate activities that don't place stress on the injured body part.

Students who choose not to participate without adequate reasoning will be placed on detention and referred to the Head Teacher. Repeated offences will result in parents being contacted and students being placed on monitoring booklets to monitor their repeated disobedience.
