Shoes for Safety
At school, our students doing Science and TAS subjects learn in laboratories, workshops and kitchen environments. These learning spaces are not like a regular classroom. We have chemicals, tools, equipment and materials in these spaces and we use these spaces for both theoretical and practical based activities.
Footwear is an important safety item. Good soles provide a sound grip on the floor, preventing accidents such as slips, trips and fall from occurring. Footwear can also protect feet from damage caused by accidents such as falling objects or chemical spillages.
Department of Education WHS policy requires all students to wear appropriate footwear in all laboratories and workshops and when conducting practical activities in the school kitchens.
Acceptable shoes have the following characteristics:
- Fully enclosed with a black leather upper
- Sturdy
- Solid rubber non-slip sole
Want to donate your old school uniforms?
The front office gladly accepts donated uniforms when students leave or have outgrown sizes. These are washed regularly and used as loan items for students out of uniform. We welcome drop offs at the reception desk during school hours.
