STEM showcase - Thursday 3 July

Teacher and students in class

Sydney Secondary College Leichhardt is excited to announce our annual STEM Showcase, which will be held on Thursday 3 July, from 4pm to 6pm in the school library.

Sydney Secondary College Leichhardt is excited to announce our annual STEM Showcase, which will be held on Thursday 3 July, from 4pm to 6pm in the school library. This competition is open to all students in Year 7 and Year 8 and parents and carers are welcome to attend. At the STEM Showcase, students will present the project work they have completed in their Technology classes.

The showcase will be judged in two ways: expert judges will select a Judges' Winner based on their review of the projects and discussions with the students. Additionally, parents and carers will have the opportunity to vote for a winner in the People’s Choice Award. Both categories of winner receive a trophy and a lunchtime pizza party.

There are four categories in the STEM Showcase:

Year 7:

  • Small and Smart: Students design and create a prototype of a tiny home with smart features.
  • Pinball Wizard: Students construct a timber pinball machine, complete with personalised obstacles.

Year 8:

  • The Burger Project: Students design and create a burger that is both healthy and sustainable.
  • Kickstarter: Students design and create a prototype of an innovative product that solves a problem.

All Technology classes are working diligently to bring their creations to life and to complete their projects in time for the Showcase.

How can you help?

  1. Ask your child about the project they are working on at school and encourage them to enter the STEM Showcase.
  2. Mark the date in your diary and come along to see what our students can achieve!

I hope to see you all at the STEM Showcase:

Thursday 3 July 4pm - 6pm in the School Library
